About Me

Shareen Iqbal: I am currently on a journey of discovering and applying what "The Answer is Love" means. I would like to live in a world that practices Unconditional Love and I believe so would all of us. I am deep into Spirituality and it continues to give me the answers and stability that I seek for in my life. I really believe that we are all one. Therefore, I have embarked on a personal quest to create this loving world I have envisioned. I am in the midst of building alliances with friends and organizations who share these same beliefs and are on a similar pursuit of creating this loving world.I believe in education, and use it as one of the means to create social change, to develop the potential of our humanity. I also love children and choose to create nurturing environments for their happiness and success in life. I currently work with international NGOs on humanitarian issues, utilizing loving values in various context. Professionally, I am a Consultant for Social Responsibility & Development. I am also co-creator of "Planet Love Peace", which is a Social Responsibility learning program to promote our vision of a loving and peaceful world.

IFOR - WPP Asian Team Members

I am grateful for the opportunity to be part of this wonderful team working for Peace in the Asian region. We met up in the Philippines for the Asian Consultation and here are some of the dedicated peace activists that were there.

"Action for Life" team visits the "Initiatives of Change" family in Malaysia.

Welcoming AFL team members Geniya from Ukraine and Mediatrix from Kenya to my home. "Action for Life" is a community of change-makers within "Initiatives of Change." Intergenerational, multi-faith and multi-national, it operates through training programs and small mobile teams, working in partnership with local and regional IofC networks.

With Nigerian Peacemakers, Imam Ashafa and Pastor James

These two African Peacemakers are becoming global icons in their work for conflict resolution and peace making skills. They are well know from the documentary titled "The Imam and the Pastor." I had the great honor and privilege of spending time with them during their visit to Malaysia.

At the Voices of Peace, Conscience and Reason Forum

I am with the organizing committee chairman, Datin Halimah Mohd Said. She stated that the forum's objective was to focus on the core values and shared aspirations that bind, and on the positive affirmations that nurture. She also said that the nation's hope for enduring peace and unity lies in the wisdom of a people who are enlightened and guided by their conscience and reason.

Lovely to have a new family of Sisters In Peace! We had a 3 day session in my home and it was a wonderful experience. This is an "Initiatives of Change" program which was born in Caux, Switzerland. Peace to you!

UNESCO Prize for Peace Education 2002

I had the honor of meeting Dr.Jagdish Gandhi, who founded the City Montessori School in India in 1959. It is the only school in the world to have won this prize. He started out this school with only 5 students and today they have over 37,000 students.

Interfaith Peacebuilding

With the wonderful "IFOR - Women Peacemakers Program" team members in Cyprus for the Interfaith Peace Building Consultation. We would love for you to support the full and formal implementation of the UN Security Council Resolution 1325. The UNSCR 1325 sanctions the inclusion of women in the formal peace process.

With Conflict Resolution Practitioner and Author Diana Francis

I had the wonderful honor of getting to know Diana Francis, who is one of the most experienced practitioners of Conflict Resolution. She is also the author of three books: (i) From Pacification to Peacebuilding (ii) Rethinking War and Peace (iii) People, Peace and Power. My deepest respect and love to her.

15th Anniversary of Srebenica Genocide in Bosnia

Attended the memorial of the worst massacre since WWII, in the Bosnian town of Srebenica. A whole hillside was dug out with graves for 775 green-draped coffins of recently identified victims of Europe's largest mass killing since the Holocaust. It was a heart-wrenching experience to witness this and to hear the stories from the people of Bosnia. Bless their souls and may they live in peace.

Meeting Up with the Oxfam Team in England

Appreciated the opportunity to meet up with Oxfam team members in Birmingham. They are collaborating with the London based organization that I am affiliated with, to develop toolkits for youth-based social development projects.

Sharing Diplomatic Experiences

While in London, I had the wonderful opportunity to meet up with British Ambassador Rupert Joy (on the left) to Uzbekistan. He shared about his interesting life experiences and current challenges in that region.

Global Love Day - 1 May 2010

Celebrating Global Love Day with friends in my home. Friendship is love, and I do love my friends.

Visit to the school for refugee kids

My friends, Carsten from Germany and Sister Myriam from Switzerland visited the school for refugee kids. We delivered school suppllies, clothes and drinks for the kids. This school needs a lot of support, otherwise the kids will lose their right to education and be back out on the streets.

Charter for Compassion -- Malaysia

Sustaining A Culture of Peace Through Education

Student Leadership Training Program held in Malaysia from 7-10 August 2008. The program was fantastic and a huge success. Thanks to IFOR of the Netherlands and WPP of India for the tremendous support of the Malaysian Project.
